Molding Technology

Injection Molding Equipment

Kyowa's injection molding machines are distributed throughout our four facilities to provide high quality products to customers across the United States and Mexico. Machine sizes range from 55 up to 2500 metric tons to satisfy a wide range of molding needs. A list of machine sizes for each facility can be found by visiting the Production Facilities page. For more information, please contact Kyowa 's Sales Department at 714-889-6600 or email sales@kyowaamerica.com.

Innovative Technology Creates Superior Products

Innovations from Kyowa America include molding speaker grills into television cabinets, creating an all-in-one frame. Speaker grills are made of extremely thin material, with many tiny holes to transmit sound. Some of the benefits of this process include reduced assembly costs and the elimination of vibration.

Gas-Assist Molding Technology

Kyowa America is also an industry leader in advanced gas-assist molding technology. The gas-assist process provides several advantages over other molding methods.

  • Reduces sink marks.
  • Reduces weight.
  • Faster shot cycle, increasing productivity and lowering costs.
  • Lower injection pressure, extending tool life.

The Kyowa team continues to develop new and improved processing techniques, moving ahead of other manufacturers.

Mold Flow Analysis

Once the basic Part Design has been completed, Kyowa uses a software simulation to perform a mold flow analysis. This helps to refine the tool design and molding conditions. Mold flow analysis can be used with both Standard Injection Molding and Gas-Assist Injection Molding. The benefits of the analysis allow us to refine the part design, create/improve flow channels, determine the number and location of gates as well as the size and shape of the runner and gates. The simulation shows material melt front advancement, pressure, and skin polymer fraction (Gas Penetration). These all help refine the tool design and molding parameters to ensure the highest quality and most economical part possible.

Real-Time Process Monitoring

Kyowa 's molding facilities use a real-time production and process monitoring system to provide detailed and precise information from the manufacturing floor for effective decision-making and plant management. The information gathered and maintained includes scheduling and production data; engineering data including support of intra-cycle profiles and SPC analysis, variable and attribute characteristic data for SPC analysis; and mold and machine maintenance data to support preventive maintenance programs.
